Hoshi no Koe - Voices of a Distant Star (OAV)

Hoshi no Koe is a spectacular OAV created by Makoto Shinkai in 2002. Although now over 4 years old it’s still as breathtaking now as it was then.

The story revolves around a boy and a girl - school sweethearts - where the girl is chosen to be a Tracer pilot for the UN and is sent into outer space to wage a war against aliens. While in orbit the two keep in touch via mobile phone messages, however the distance from earth the longer the time required for the messages to arrive.

There are two versions of this OAV, the first one is where Makoto Shinkai and his fiancée actually do the dubbing, while the second has a pair of voice actors doing the main characters - there is very little difference between the two.

This film is really a fine piece of Anime, especially considering that Shinkai did the majority of the work on it, with very other staff.

Its definitely has to been watched, and not only once!
