Mushishi - Anime

...Mushi are lifeforms, they are all around us, but are neither animals nor plants... They are sometimes harmless sometimes harmful but are mearly trying to survive...

...Some people have the gift of being able to see Mushi, and Mushi-shi are people with the power to see and interact with them...

This is basically the story behind "Mushishi", where the viewer is lead through the wonderful world of Mushi by the Mushishi "Ginko" as he travels around the country helping people.

The anime is remarkably beautiful and relaxing, thanks to the stunning backgrounds, sound effects and plots. The figures encountered in the episodes are visually quite plain which has the effect of pushing the viewer to admire the surrounding detail and focus on the depth of each character - all of which are unique and interesting.

The sound effects which accompany the journey are wonderful and give a sense of actually being in the middle of winter in the mountains, summer by the sea or autumn walking through woods alongside Ginko.

Although Mushi are invisible lifeforms and their interactions with nature and humans obsure, Ginko's explainations and the use of a narrator provides all the necessary detail so the viewer is never left with any unanswered questions but rather feels like an apprentice to Ginko.

Every episode has its own storyline carefully constructed and is never plain or boring. Each of the main characters is carefully introduced and details of his/her background are often used to enrich the episode by providing an insight into their personal history and life. This is also used to help us understand the choices the characters make throughout the episodes, and their way of dealing with the world of Mushi.
